Colonel Geoff Mangelsdorf is the Deputy Director of the Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute, located at the US Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. He brings over 28 years of operational experience in national security affairs.
PKSOI promotes the collaborative development and integration of peace and stability capabilities across the US government, international organizations, and the community of interest in order to enable the success of peace and stability activities and missions.
Geoff has a wealth of expertise leading diverse organizations accomplishing complex missions in challenging environments. He spent the majority of his time in tactical units, twice serving in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He commanded telecommunications formations at all echelons, from platoon through brigade.
Geoff’s multinational development includes the NATO-led peacekeeping force which established a secure environment in Kosovo, and three tours of duty on the Korean Peninsula that deterred North Korean aggression and stabilized the region. His further service in Germany, Iraq, and Japan refined his international exposure.
Geoff’s education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Arts Degree in Telecommunications Management, and a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. He is a graduate of numerous military schools, including the US Army Command and General Staff College and the US Naval War College.
Geoff and his wife, Amy, live in Carlisle along with their son, Peter. In his spare time, Geoff enjoys working on carpentry and home renovation projects.
