Internships at PKSOI offer numerous benefits with our program designed as a collaborative learning environment benefitting both the students and our faculty and staff. We offer unparalleled flexibility in creating real world, dynamic research projects that assist not only PKSOI’s mission, but further the knowledge and understanding of peace and stability operations for the student.
These internships are not funded by PKSOI and may or may not be funded by sponsoring institutions. Internships are designed to enhance the students’ educational experiences and qualifications.

Our mentors are subject matter experts in their respective field with real-world experience - many having multiple deployments working not only with the U.S. and other militaries, but other departments of the U.S. Government, Non-Governmental Organizations, as well as various International organizations.
As a PKSOI intern, you’ll engage with strategic leaders and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of conferences, courses, and miscellaneous events at PKSOI and the USAWC.
PKSOI’s internships reinforce a collaborative environment in an Interagency, Whole-of-Government, International environment.
PKSOI internship’s afford the intern the opportunity to interact and collaborate with senior officials from the Department of Defense, Department of State, United States Agency for International Development, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Defense Intelligence Agency.
PKSOI’s Interns have opportunities to engage in various facets of government building at the strategic level to include: Governance, Rule of Law, Security Sector Reform, and Sustainable Economic and Infrastructure.
We offer year round internship opportunities, each approximately 12 weeks long.
Deadlines to apply are:
- November 1st for the spring session (late Jan through early May)
- March 1st for summer (late May through early Aug)
- July 1st for fall (Late Aug through early Dec)
